The 1st Southeast Asia Mobile Application Challenge Acceleration Bootcamp in the Philippines was held last November 29, 2014 at the Commission on Higher Education Auditorium in Diliman, Quezon City.
The Acceleration Bootcamp is the second phase of SEAMAC Philippines as aspiring mobile app developers gathered to learn from mobile app, technology and business experts. The bootcamp gathered 61 teams from all over the Philippines including teams from Pangasinan, Batangas, Nueva Ecija, Rizal, Laguna, Cebu, Bacolod, Iligan, Cagayan de Oro and Davao.

Dr. Paris De L’etraz, the Managing Director and Professor of Entrepreneurship of Venture Lab, inspired the participants to go outside their comfort zones, facing the uncertainty by understanding their personal and professional comfort zones. He also discussed that technology that we have in our hands – mobile phones and apps that people use and enjoy today has a big potential in entrepreneurship. Foundations and strategies of creating a mobile application were also discussed as each element is important – from the photos, look, size, font choice and the overall content.
Ms. Hannah Chou discusses their mobile application Our City Love, an application for PWDs to know where to enjoy great food in Taiwan. They are also expanding here in the Philippines by partnering with local organizations.
Hannah Chou, the creator of Our City Love from Taiwan which recently won in the Social Entrepreneurship Venture Day shared their team’s mobile application that was able to help PWDs to look for food hubs that cater to their needs and was able to inspire others to do the same.
Mr Jeffrey Char discussed the mechanics and requirements of the teams as they start their journey to the Regional and Barcelona Finals.
The morning session ended with Jeffrey Char of J-Seed Ventures Inc. He discussed the detailed mechanics of the Southeast Asia Mobile Application Challenge.
The afternoon session started as Filipino technopreneurs gathered in a panel as each shared their experiences from conceptualization, creating and launching their apps. The panel was composed of Yves Gonzalez, MMDA Traffic Navigator Application; Brian Cu, GrabTaxi Philippines; Kim Harold Sinang, GoManila!; Carlo Calimon, MobKard; Louis Michael Concepcion, Tanaw; and Earl Martin Valencia, IdeaSpace.

After the bootcamp, teams were challenged to submit their final requirements consisting of a PowerPoint presentation and a 2-minute video about their planned mobile application. Deadline is December 12, 2014. This is their start with their journey to the Regional Final in Singapore in February and to Barcelona in the world finals by March 2015.
Mr. Ricardo Torres from the Peace and Equity Foundation closes the day with words to instigate participants to get up and produce world class mobile applications.

SEAMAC Philippines 2014 is mounted by the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship- Go Negosyo and Peace & Equity Foundation in cooperation with Applied Innovation Institute. True to its commitment of helping transform the Philippines into an entrepreneurial nation, the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship, Inc. also known as Go Negosyo launched the Go Negosyo Building Enterprising Students for Tomorrow (BEST) Programme last November 17 at the Manila Polo Club, Makati City as one of the highlights of the Global Entrepreneurship Week 2014 Philippine Celebration.
Go Negosyo is taking youth mentorship to the next level through the Go Negosyo BEST. It is a mentoring program that aims to be an avenue for academically outstanding college junior and senior students (who may not necessarily be business majors or business-inclined) to expose them to thought leaders and industry practitioners through a one-year program, with quarterly activities that may include but may not be limited to meet-and-greet with heads of corporations, company tours and immersions and teambuilding and personal enrichment sessions.
The launch conference was attended by around 400 students coming from 50 schools all over the region. The student delegates were selected based on their academic standing and leadership involvements.
Highlights of the seven-hour programme included lightning talks and power forums:

He was then followed by the Season 1 Winner of The Apprentice Asia, Mr. Jonathan Yabut who talked about the value of grit to be successful.

They were also joined by Luis Gabriel Moreno, the first-ever Filipino Gold Medalist in any of the Olympics and award-winning filmmaker, Mikhail Red.

To jumpstart the GoNegosyo Southeast Asia Mobile Application Challenge 2014 (GNSEAMAC), a Technoprenuership Conference and Information Session was held in partnership with Far Eastern University Manila last October 9, 2014.
The event was graced by three young technopreneurs, namely Gian Javelona, CEO of OrangeApps Inc., Brian Cu, co-founder of GrabTaxi Philippines and Vince Golangco, founder of WheninManila.com. The info session gave the students, professors and aspiring entrepreneurs in attendance the opportunity to learn the basics of technology with the use of mobile applications and of the web. Students were inspired by the stories of these technopreneurs which gave solutions, insights and entertainment to the readers and end users. The event gathered 200 participants from different schools and organizations all over the metro who are interested in using technology to make a difference.

The event was made possible with the support of FEU Manila through its Office of Student Development and partner students organizations: Tamaraw Volunteers, Institute of Arts and Sciences Student Council and Organization of Junior Finance Executives.
The GoNegosyo South East Asia Mobile Application Challenge 2014 is open for techies and non-techies alike from ages 18-35 years old. GNSEMAC accepts creative concepts that will solve a social problem of our country and of the world. To join, a group must be formed with at least two members up to six with at least one (1) Filipino citizen.
Deadline for app concept submission is on October 30, 2014. The winners of the Philippine Finals will be given a cash prize and will be brought to Singapore to compete with the rest of South East Asia and get a chance to go to Barcelona, Spain for the Mobile World Council on March 2015.

Go Negosyo to launch the GO NEGOSYO BUILDING ENTERPRISING STUDENTS FOR TOMORROW (BEST) Programme
Taking off from the overwhelming success of the youth entrepreneurship and other sectoral summits that GoNegosyo has been organizing since 2005 for free for thousands of students all over the Philippines, we take the mentorship to our young people to the next level!
The GoNegosyo Building Enterprising Students for Tomorrow (BEST) Programme shall be GoNegosyo’s mentoring programme for select college students in the country. Around 1,000 junior and senior students will be invited to be part of the select pool.
For the pilot, colleges and universities are asked to nominate 10 student delegates. GoNegosyo BEST aims to serve as an avenue for academically outstanding college junior and senior students (who may not necessarily be business majors or business-inclined) to expose them to a very good pool of Filipino entrepreneurs and industry leaders and practitioners, and inspire and teach them to be enterprising and entrepreneurial. It is a one-year program, with quarterly activities that may include but may not be limited to meet-and-greet with heads of corporations, company tours and immersions and teambuilding and personal enrichment sessions.
The launch of GoNegosyo BEST shall be conducted as one of the major highlights of the Global Entrepreneurship Week Celebration in the Philippines. This will be on the November 17 at the Manila Polo Club in McKinley Road, Makati City. A seven-hour programme is being prepared to include powertalks and keynote forums.
WHO CAN BE NOMINATED AS DELEGATES? [Student Qualifications]
- Select colleges and universities will be asked to nominate ten of their outstanding students: breakdown to be five (5) juniors and five (5) seniors.
- The students should ideally come from different courses.
- The students should be a recognized leader in his/her school or community. He/she should have a leadership position either inside or outside the school. Previous leadership positions are also honored.
- The student delegation will be asked to fill up the GoNegosyo BEST Delegates Form. Submission should be coursed through the school’s Office of Student Affairs or Office of the President as the official endorsing bodies.
- As part of the delegates form, the students will be asked to answer three (3) questions:
1. What do you look forward to learning from the Assembly?
2. Who is your model entrepreneur and why?
3. What for you is entrepreneurship?

Following the success of the FIRST PHILIPPINE AGRINEGOSYO SUMMIT last July 25, the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship is bringing the AGRINEGOSYO SUMMIT in LUZON!
GNPAS- LUZON is a one- day event that will feature different topics in agripreneurship in the forms of keynote addresses, plenary discussions and plenary lectures. It shall enjoin the participants to develop a positive change in their mindset, and empower them with relevant entrepreneurship tools and concepts as their key to success specifically in pursuing an agribusiness venture.
Designed to complement the existing sectoral summits of GoNegosyo targeting the youth, the women, the OFWs and the technopreneurs, this Summit is centered on reinforcing the entrepreneurial spirit of the Filipino people by educating them about different opportunities in the vast sector of agriculture.
Specifically, the summit aims to be able to:
Inspire students and aspiring entrepreneurs to look at agriculture in a different way and possibly encourage them to start their own agribusiness ventures by featuring young successful and inspiring agripreneurs;
Present various business models in agriculture in the crops, seeds and grains, vegetables and fruits, agri-processing, fishing and animal raising and industry subcategories and teach practical know-how on starting up an agri venture;
Invite relevant government agencies and leaders in the agriculture sector to communicate their general roadmap and vision for the Philippine Agriculture;
Get together a network of enablers in the agribusiness industry to share and discuss services being extended to potential and practicing entrepreneurs.
