Participants from the government, private sector, MSMEs, and the academe braved the rains brought by Typhoon Ofel to attend the CALABARZON SME Caravan mounted by Go Negosyo and DTI Region IV last October 25 at the Aurora Grand Ballroom, One Tagaytay Place, Tagaytay City. It was a day filled with inspiration and information as the audience got to hear lessons from the resource speakers, which they can apply in their respective negosyos.
The session started with messages from Rene Tongson, OIC of the Provincial Cooperative, Livelihood, and Enterprise Development Office of Cavite, and Marilou Quinco-Toledo, Regional Director of DTI Region IV-A. Go Negosyo’s Executive Director Ramon Lopez discussed the importance of having an entrepreneurial mindset, which was followed by a forum featuring Manila and CALABARZON’s successful entrepreneurs. The panelists in the forum include Jennilyn Antonio (Ehje’s Peanut Butter), GJ Jimenez (Banapple), Zarah Juan (Panda Cleaners), Kim Lato (Kimstore), and Virginia Malipol (Amira’s Buko Tart), who shared their experiences in starting up, the challenges that they faced, and their pieces of advice to entrepreneurs like them.
In the afternoon, angelpreneurs Paulo Tibig, Ed Pilapil, and Tess Dimaculangan all revealed their knowledge on how to spot business opportunities, conduct strategic marketing for MSMEs, and the tricks on business finance. Meanwhile, Marlo Carag of the Intellectual Property Office emphasized the importance of having one’s brand protected by getting it registered.
Provincial Director Noly Guevarra of DTI Cavite closed the activities.
Go Negosyo’s partners PLDT SME Nation, Smart Communications, Meralco, and Avon participated in the caravan through their onsite booths.
