Go Negosyo HOLDS NEGOSEM IN Dipolog

Go Negosyo conducted its 9th SME Negosyo Caravan for the year 2011. The negosyo caravan is implemented in conjunction with the Department of Trade Industry specifically the Bureau of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development (BMSMED) and the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC), together with the DTI Regional and Provincial Offices.

The Zamboanga run of the caravan was held in Top Plaza Hotel, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte in time with the celebration of Adlaw ng Dipolog, or Dipolog Day on the first of July, 2011. The caravan was well-attended with around 300 to 400 participants.

The opening remarks was delivered by DTI Regional Director Nazrullah B. Manzur. Dr. Sitti Amina M. Jain, the energetic and passionate assistant regional director of DTI ZDN welcomed everybody in attendance by message of thanks and by sharing relevant figures related to entrepreneurship landscape in the country. She reiterated that Filipino SMEs comprised 99.6% making it a very powerful sector. A very brief awarding of SME Star Elite followed suit.


Go Negosyo segment followed thereafter hosted by Programs Development Officer John Paul Uminga. After introducing Go Negosyo as an advocacy and as a non-governmental organization supportive of SME development in the country, to the attending crowd, the Tagumpay Forum which was intended to inspire both the aspiring and practicing entrepreneurs by allowing them to listen and learn from the first-hand experiences of the invited members of the panel. The panel featured two successful and humble tandem of Mr. Mike Cases of Tito Mike’s Food Company Inc. and Ms. Nelia of Jaymark Handicrafts. Mr. Cases is a former OFW working as an engineer in Brunei Darussalam before he went back to the country to start his own business, which he actually learned as a kid raised by his grandmother. Meanwhile, Ms. Nelia is a former factory worker, who was both skillful and hardworking doing her job before he finally taught of starting her own enterprise. The two local Dipolog entrepreneurs stirred the audience with their stories of success, struggles and challenges. The participants were also given a chance to as questions addressed to the two entrepreneurs.


Meanwhile, Mr. Ardy Roberto, Go Negosyo Angelpreneur and Co-Founder of Salt and Light Ventures, delivered a very interesting and engaging talk highlighting the importance of having a positive mindset and also some tips on how to spot business opportunities. His talk ran for almost a couple of hours including an open forum. Following Mr. Roberto’s talk is Mr. Ramon Lopez’s lecture on product development and marketing. Mr. Lopez is the Executive Director of Go Negosyo and Vice-President of Strategic Planning of RFM Corporation which produces products like Swift, Selecta, White King, among others.
