Gladys Reyes-Sommereux takes on new role as real-life entrepreneur

Reigning as one of the country’s most loved and much-sought after “kontrabidas” in primetime television, Gladys Reyes moves on to the next page of her career as an entrepreneur to become the “bida” of her own negosyo.

Adding to her list of roles and accomplishments, this mother of two now celebrates being the new host of the number 1 Negosyo show on TV, Go Negosyo, Kaya Mo!

As Go Negosyo also moves on to the next season of sharing the good news of entrepreneurship on television, Gladys will give it a new twist and bring a lighter perspective, hosting and sharing her own story and insights as a self-fulfilled entrepreneur.

“There is a different kind of fulfilment in running your own business. You have to give attention to every detail. I did not realize that I could be an entrepreneur until I became a mother. Nung una, siempre showbiz, may projects. Pero kapag nanay ka na, hindi mo pwede sabihin sa anak mo na yung gatas niya eh sa susunod na project na lang,” said Gladys .

With the support from her husband, Christopher Roxas, and two growing kids, Gladys understands the need for a stable source of income. She knows well enough that the limelight she shares with thousands of other celebrities in the world of showbiz will not shine brightly for a lifetime. These are what prompted her to venture into entrepreneurship.

“I am grateful to the people who have supported me as an entrepreneur. If it were not to their persistent effort, I would have not learned a thing or two about running a business,” Gladys said.

Now, Glady’s is set to add another feather in her cap and this time, she takes on being the new host of a negosyo show. She joins the list of well-respected gurus and mentors in bringing the good news about entrepreneurship.

“This is another opportunity for me to show a different side of me. Siempre, marami ang nasanay sa akin bilang kontrabida. Ngayon, makikita naman nila ang isang Gladys Reyes na bida sa pagne-negosyo,” Gladys muses.

After three years and now moving on its 6th season, Go Negosyo, Kaya Mo! is an interactive TV-magazine show that features the inspiring successful stories of different entrepreneurs. Aside from the inspiration brought about the stories, the show also gives tips and lessons on the How-To’s and technical basics of entrepreneurship. GNKM airs every Saturday and Sunday on QTV 11 from 8-8:30 in the morning and with a replay on Sunday on NBN 4, at 9:15 in the evening.

Gladys will be relating with different types of entrepreneurs and experts in the field of entrepreneurship development. Among them are Dean Francisco “Pax” Lapid of Entrepreneurship School of Asia, Self-help Guru and HR Consultant Efren “Ping” Reyes, and Presidential Consultant for Entrepreneurship and Go Negosyo Guru and Founding Trustee Joey Concepcion.

“She is very effective as a host. She has the credibility and the negosyo flare to connect each and every aspiring and inspiring entrepreneur through our TV show. Gladys as an entrepreneur and host knows whereof she speaks. And that’s one important element we found in her that is why we got her on the show,” Joey Concepcion explained. “Gladys is already a TV icon from her Mara Clara days. Now, she shares her experience and relates with other entrepreneurs as one of the women negosyo icons,” Joey adds.

“Fun while learning. Yun ang basic message ng show. Yun ang magiging kakaiba kaya dapat abangan ng mga manunuod ang bagong Go Negosyo, Kaya Mo!”, Gladys said. “I thankful to Go Negosyo especially to Mr Joey Concepcion for believing in me not just as a TV host, but first and foremost as an entrepreneur.

Presently, Gladys is part-owner and also the endorser of her products, the KSA Magic. Her business offers a long line of beauty and whitening products that she herself uses. Joining the long list of Go Negosyo entrepreneur mentors, Gladys is also featured in the recently launched third book of Go Negosyo on 55 Inspiring Stories of Women Entrepreneurs. She joins the ranks of different micro, small, medium and large entrepreneurs featured in the book in bringing a story filled of inspiration, hard work, and hope to succeed in life through entrepreneurship.
