Go Negosyo Celebrates Milestones of its Filipina Entrepreneurship Summit

Filipino women are known for being resilient, passionate, and innovative. A Filipina can take on any role and be successful in doing it. That is why, these Filipino women are considered as catalysts of change and progress in the society.

Go Negosyo’s annual Filipina Entrepreneurship Summit is anchored on empowering, inspiring, encouraging, and providing better opportunities for women across the country. It also fires up the entrepreneurial spirit among aspiring Filipina entrepreneurs and provides inspiration and support to the importance of women’s economic prowess.

For 2018, Go Negosyo is celebrating a milestone as it stages the 10th Filipina Entrepreneurship Summit. It has been a decade of highlighting women empowerment and entrepreneurship.

Ten years of inspiring more Filipina comes with remarkable milestones:

1.) The first Filipina Entrepreneurship Summit was held in March 2, 2009.

The first FES was created to empower women by showcasing women entrepreneurs who were ale to overcome challenges and manage successful and lucrative business ventures.

2.) The first Inspiring Filipina Entrepreneurs recognized by Go Negosyo during the Filipina Entrepreneurship Summit are: Eulalia Baylon, Founder of the Immaculate Concepcion College; Helena Benitez, Founder of Philippine Women University; and Socorro Ramos, Founder of National Bookstore.

3.) In the Filipina Entrepreneurship Summit 2010, Go Negosyo launched its 5th book entitled Tagumpay Mula Sa Kahirapan: 100 Inspiring Stories of Small Entrepreneurs which featured stories of Filipinos who have beaten poverty through entrepreneurship.

The 100 featured micro entrepreneurs all attended the summit held in World Trade Center, Pasay City.

4.) The largest number of attendees ever recorded for the Filipina Entrepreneurship Summit is 25,000. It was in 2011 when the largest crowd attended the three-day summit and expo entitled: Babae: Kapuso Ka ng Bayan.

5.) Every year, there are more than 50 different business models presented by the speakers and panelists and also by the exhibitors. The booths have attracted attendees who are looking for business models which can be franchised or be inspired of.

6.) For the past decade, the Filipina Entrepreneurship Summit has gathered women entrepreneurs, advocates, supporters, and women in government who have expressed their support for women entrepreneurship. Some of the known women personalities who attended FES over the years include former Camarines Sur Congresswoman and now Vice President Leni Robredo, Sen. Grace Poe, Sen. Cynthia Villar, former Batangas Governor and now Congresswoman Vilma Santos-Recto, among others.

7.) Only two presidents of the Philippines have graced the recognition of Inspiring Filipina Entrepreneurs. One is former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. And for the first time after 6 years, President Rodrigo Duterte awarded successful and inspiring Filipina entrepreneurs in 2017.

8.) Speaking of the 2017 awarding ceremony, it was also the first Filipina awards held inside Malacanang Palace. President Rodrigo Duterte, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, and Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez handed the trophies to the 26 awardees.

9.) Go Negosyo reached its 100th mark on Inspiring Filipina Entrepreneurs in 2016. For the past decade, Go Negosyo has recognized more than 100 women entrepreneurs who are inspiration to many for positively and passionately leading their respective enterprises.

10.) Esther Vibal of Vibal Publishing and Socorro Ramos of National Bookstore were the first recipients of the Go Negosyo Lifetime Achievement Award. Esther Vibal is the Chair of the Vibal Group of Companies. She was awarded by Go Negosyo because of her keen adherence to quality and passion for excellence which have led the Vibal Group to become an institution in the education and publishing fields. Socorro Ramos, one of Go Negosyo first awardees, received the special recognition for being a true inspiring Filipina entrepreneur who is passionate in ensuring quality school and office supplies products for students and workers. National Bookstore is the leading bookstore nationwide. Esther Vibal and Soccoro Ramos are both Go Negosyo trustees back in 2005.
