Go Negosyo to host the 2nd Filipino Technopreneurship Summit

True to its commitment of building the Philippines as an entrepreneurial nation, the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship – Go Negosyo is holding its 2ND FILIPINO TECHNOPRENEURSHIP SUMMIT (FTSii) on JANUARY 21, 2013, MONDAY at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

This Summit is centered on reinforcing the entrepreneurial spirit of the Filipino people by engaging them in the powerful realm of technology. The summit above all else aspires to inspire future Filipino technopreneurs who will harness and maximize the powerful duo of technology and entrepreneurship for one’s economic empowerment and as an important contribution to the nation. The event also aims to enjoin the participants to develop a positive change in their mindset, and empower them with relevant entrepreneurship tools and concepts as their key to success.

This sectoral summit is to be conducted, following the overwhelming success of the first three Go Negosyo Women Entrepreneurship Summits with 60, 000 participants combined and the first three Youth Entrepreneurship Summit participated in by almost 35, 000 participants since 2010.

The 2nd Go Negosyo Filipino Technopreneurship Summit is a one-day event that will feature different topics on technopreneurship in the form of inspiring keynote addresses and plenary forums. The event is expected to feature Filipino technopreneurs who were able to make it big in the borderless and ever-dynamic world of technology, even those who conquer Silicon Valley proving to the world Filipino ingenuity and technology-savvyness. The event will also highlight business models by featuring successful techno-enterprises in the fields of mobile applications, wireless applications, software development, game design and development, ecommerce, website development and even blogging, in the hope to empower the future generation.

The event aims to gather students, teachers and young and working professionals in the hope to give them a glimpse of Filipino technopreneurship which is a fairly untapped sector which can still be maximized for our collective gain as a nation.

Be at the 2nd OFW and Family Summit on November 22!

Making its mark in the Philippine entrepreneurial advocacy, the first Chinoypreneur Day was organized last September 1 at the Muelle de Binondo, Manila. The Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship – Go Negosyo was a major partner of the Chinoypreneur Challenge 2012, together with Mansmith, Philippine Franchising Association (PFA) and Association of Filipino Chinese Students (AFICS) in spearheading the Chinoypreneur Day.

As part of their commitment in providing entrepreneurship education to more than a thousand micro negosyantes, students, and aspiring entrepreneurs for free, the organizers gathered experts and guest speakers like Tan Ching, President of Federation of Filipino–Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII); Samie Lim, Chairman Emeritus of Philippine Franchise Association and Chairman of FrancorpPhils.; Josiah Go, Chairman of Mansmith and Fielders Inc.; and Randell Tiongson, Personal Finance Expert.

Furthermore, Let’s Go Negosyo Angelpreneurs participated on the said event by sharing their time and expertise in guiding the participants in their entrepreneurial journey. They were Paulo Tibig, President of VCargo and Michael Angelo Lobrin, Author of Laugh with God Today.Additionally, Roy Aguila, Business Development Manager of Multiply.com and Jan Michael M. Cabral, SME Channel Partner Relationship Manager of Meralco SME Business Group also shared how entrepreneurs can maximize their resources for their operations.


The highlighted forum in the program featured young inspiring and successful entrepreneurs Reymont Choachuy of Sams Everything On Stick and Tea101, Ifore Yu of Chicken Charlie, Krishna Alejandrino of Junior Achievement of the Philippines Inc.(JAPI), Kim Lato of Kimstore, Willen Ma of Masuki and Olivia Limpe of Asian Dragon. During the said forum, Raymont Choa Chuy shared how misfortunes became his motivations.  Ifore Yu discussed how his courage transformed things on him. Krishna Alejandrino highlighted how youth can be powerful by sharing what they do in JAPI. Kim Lato inspired the participants how being young can never be a hindrance to successful enterprise like Kimstore. Furthermore, Willen Ma highlighted how love in her family became the secret ingredient of their mami in Masuki.

According to Alvin Kingson Tan, chairman of the said event and President of Fil-Chi Media Productions Inc., the activity aimed to encourage youth to do business and be able to participate in nation building. He highlighted that there are many doors to business opportunities and the participants must be active to take them.


President Ron Andre Lim of AFICS also expressed his gratitude for the success of the event and mentioned in his speech that it is there hope for the event to be useful and interesting for the participants. Relatively, Communications and Special Projects Officer Monica Ramirez of PCE discussed on the latest Philippine economic situation in relation to how this country becomes a nation of entrepreneurs.


The Chinoypreneur Day was a series of whole-day seminar on the entrepreneurship. This project presented an entrepreneurship education to Chinoy / Filipino that will empower them with more relevant concepts and approaches to succeed in their businesses and plans in life as contribution in building the nation.

UP-JPIA Mounts 2nd Calle Bistro

University of the Philippines – Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (UP-JPIA), Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship – Let’s Go Negosyo and Eton Centris conducted the Calle Bistro, the overnight food bazaar of 2012, last September 15 at Eton Centris, Quezon City. Despite the rainy night, the event had been composed of 45 food stalls and 5 non-food stalls.

The second year of food bazaar Calle Bistro gathered local and foreign cuisines in the metro catering to food enthusiasts of different ages to unwind, socialize and explore the rich oriental and western flavours. It also aimed to assist budding food retail brands and enterprises in promoting their products and to provide a one of a kind food socialization experience.

According to Calle Bistro’s Project Chairperson and Marketing Financial Project Team’s Vice Chairperson Francis Louie Karunungan, Calle Bistro also helped the business students of UP to develop their entrepreneurial skills and showcase them to everyone.

Furthermore, live bands were also present to serenade the visitors. These performers were Soulpage, Grancore, Blindnotes, From the Author, Chast Grace Clarisa, and the UP Music Circle. There were also fun games and raffle draws for the food enthusiasts.

Metro Manila (July 4, 2012) - As part of President Noynoy Aquino’s 16-point agenda which include the development of the Entrepreneurial Pinoy, the Department of Trade and Industry-Philippine Trade Training Center (DTI-PTTC), Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship-Go Negosyo (PCE) and the Center for Future Leadership, Inc. (CFL), in cooperation with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) will be holding the 2nd Negosyo sa Barangay Entrepreneurship Development Training for Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) members and officials.

The training aims to inspire, teach and change mindsets to enable our kababayans in the grassroots level to develop and implement their very own entrepreneurship programs right in their own barangays and communities with the goal of empowering them through entrepreneurship.

Hear Go Negosyo Angelpreneurs such as Prof. Reuel Virtucio, Prof. Jorge Wieneke and Dean Francisco “Pax” Lapid share their expertise and experience in establishing successful businesses, listen to motivational speakers like Br. Michael Angelo Lobrin and Mr. Francis Kong and simulate business ideas with the DTI-PTTC Training Team.

The Visayas Cluster training will be held at the Boracay Ecovillage Resort and Convention Center, Malay, Aklan on September 13-16, 2012, while the Mindanao Cluster Training will be held at the Pryce Plaza Hotel and Convention Center, Carmen Hill, Cagayan de Oro City on November 8-11, 2012.

Past Negosyo Sa Barangay Entrepreneurship Development Trainings have been well participated by Local Chief Executives, officials and members of Barangays and SKs, as well as municipal and provincial staff nationwide who have committed in implementing their respective Barangay Entrepreneurship Action Plans.

This training is in accordance with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Memorandum Circular No. 2012-41 signed by the Honorable Secretary Jesse M. Robredo.

Go Negosyo Concludes 2nd MBA

Successfully leveling up the Negosyo Seminar (NegoSem) as part of the commitment to provide entrepreneurship education to Filipino entrepreneurs, the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship – Go Negosyo held its two-day seminar-workshop Magandang Business Advice (MBA) at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) Conference Center Manila last July 13 and 16.

The MBA is one of the three programs under the Go Negosyo Academy that focuses on next-level actions of venture planning and initiation. Unlike the NegoSem, participants are required to present an output as a product of their learning. A mix of aspiring entrepreneurs and small negosyantes made up the participants during the two-day run.

Go Negosyo Angelpreneurs, or mentors to entrepreneurs, shared their invaluable time and knowledge in the event. They were Mr. Ramon Lopez (Executive Director, Go Negosyo), Dean Francisco Lapid (former dean, Entrepreneurs School of Asia), Mr. Ardy Roberto (Salt & Light Ventures Co-Founder), Prof. Reuel Virtucio (Vice-President, Punla sa Tao Foundation) and Prof. Ning Lagman (Chairman, Credit Rating and Investor Services of the Philippines).

During the first day, Ardy Roberto talked about setting one’s mindset to find one’s passion in life and converting it as the ultimate reason in treading the entrepreneurial path. Dean Pax Lapid discussed the basics of spotting business opportunities, while Prof. Reuel Virtucio detailed the steps on conceptualizing and selling a product.

The second day started with the Pilipinas: Now Na! forum, which aims to expose the participants to the life and challenges of an entrepreneur. Mr. Rommel Juan of Binalot, Mr. Tommany Tan of Fern C and Mr. Federico Moreno of Ystilo Salon were featured as panelists, with Executive Director Mon Lopez serving as the moderator. Right after the forum is the individual mentoring session, where each participant was given the chance to consult directly with the angelpreneurs.

Towards the end of the MBA, three participants presented their own business plans, where the panelists actively gave their comments. These are Edgardo Tengco (photobooth), Louanne Mae Calipayan (Crafty Custom Toppers), and Berna Rabe Cruz (Tanalot Foot and Body Massage).

Participants were happy with the seminar. They have given encouraging remarks, such as:

-Good job!!! Sobrang sulit ng seminar na ito. I’ve learned a lot. Thank you and God bless…
-Though we were not given enough time to answer the assignment, it made us realize the businesses that we really want to do.

Go Negosyo Visits Samal Island, Completes NSB 1st Run

Completing the first run of the Negosyo sa Barangay Entrepreneurship Development Program, Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship Go Negosyo conducted the Mindanao leg in Camp Holiday Resort, Samal Island in Davao from April 19 to 22. Negosyo sa Barangay is a project of the Center for Future Leadership, Department of Trade and Industry – Philippine Trade Training Center and Go Negosyo.

The entrepreneurship training was attended by 500 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Officials coming from different parts of Mindanao including Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, Saranggani, to name just a few. Also in attendance were delegates from Luzon’s Mindoro.

Likewise, entrepreneurship workshops which were aimed at engaging the participants were conducted by DTI PTTC alongside raffle draws and entertainment numbers by ASAP’s Princess Velasco and TV5’s Morisette Amon, and Gerald Santos.

The Samal training followed the Baguio and Bohol runs in Luzon and Visayas, completing the program on basics of entrepreneurship for Barangay and SK Officials. The Negosyo sa Barangay: Next Level is scheduled this year in Palawan (Luzon), Boracay Island (Visayas) and Camiguin Island (Mindanao).

Go Negosyo Goes to Bohol, Trains Barangay Leaders with CFL, DTI

The Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship – Go Negosyo, Center for Future Leadership and the Department of Trade Industry conducted the Visayas run of the 1st Negosyo sa Barangay Entrepreneurship Development Program last April 12 to 15, at Bohol Tropics Resort in Tagbilaran City, Bohol. The triumvirate partnership, the first of its kind, aims to empower barangay officials including the Sangguniang Kabataan, to be enterprising either to start their own business ventures that will help their respective barangays or to empower their constituents to start a business.

As a program partner, Go Negosyo fielded several of its Angelpreneurs and helped in the training design and rollout. Among the Angelpreneurs who shared their expertise to the participants were as follows:

Mr. Ramon Lopez, Executive Director of Go Negosyo, also lectured on marketing strategies in the barangay, aside from delivering an opening address. He challenged the participants to get much learning that they can from the training, not only for themselves but for their constituents. He highlighted the importance of the role that they play in the grassroots level in empowering our kababayan, and contributing to nationbuilding in general. The Luzon run of the 1st Negosyo sa Barangay training was held in Baguio last November 16 to 19, 2011 at the Teachers’ Camp. The Mindanao run is scheduled from April 19 to 22 in Samal Island, Davao. Meanwhile, the second run of the Negosyo sa Barangay training, the level up version, is scheduled to happen in Palawan (Luzon), Boracay (Visayas) and Camiguin (Mindanao).

4th Women Entrepreneurship Summit A Success!

It has been an empowering day for more than 15,000 participants who came at the World Trade Center last Friday, March 2 during the 4th Women Entrepreneurship Summit! In partnership with GMA 7 and The Philippine Star, Go Negosyo continues to honor and empower the Filipina to break barriers, achieve success and move up in life. The attendees were a good mix of people, ranging from aspiring entrepreneurs, employees, government and civic groups, to people with disabilities and students from schools and universities.

In his opening speech, Go Negosyo’s founder Joey Concepcion expressed that Filipinos are not destined for poverty, but greatness is for those who want it most. GMA’s Chairman & CEO Atty. Felipe Gozon shared his insights on the contributions of women in our society. Ms. Sara Soliven de Guzman, Board Director of the Philippine Star, also showed her support through a short message.

Men, women, and young people alike were inspired by the lives of this year’s ten Go Negosyo Women STARpreneurs, who were composed of Elma Arboleras, inventor of the Intelligent Bus Utility System (iBus); Olivia Limpe-Aw, president of Destileria Limtuaco; Penk Ching, owner of The Pastry Bin; Susana Guerrero, president of Cravings Group of Companies; Maritel Nievera, president of Cabalen Corporation; Ma. Lourdes Ragas, owner of Carolina’s Lace Shoppe; Antuza Refalda, founder of Kalinga Brew; Rubby Sy, CEO of Forever Flawless Face & Body Center; Sari Yap, CEO & Founder of Mega Publishing Group; and Maritel Zamora, Managing Director for Asia Pacific and Europe, Middle East, and Africa of Convergys Corporation. Go Negosyo also cited three special women for being enablers and social entreprenuers. This year’s Woman Enabler awardee is Erlinda Bartolome, Managing Director of GMB Franchise Developers, while the Women Social Entrepreneur awardees are Putlih Kumalah Sug-Elardo of Sulu Royal Coffee and the People’s Alliance for Progress Multi-Purpose Cooperative, and Desiree Duran of Basuit Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative.

From the 13 awardees, BPI Family Bank selected one STARpreneur who has the most inspiring story and has displayed financial soundness in managing her business. This year, the BPI Family Business Excellence awardee is Cabalen’s Maritel Nievera. Multiply.com also awarded three of their women Multiply-neurs: Ms. Sol Villamayor of Digital Traincase as Multiply’s Alpha Merchant of the Year, Ms. Bianca Donato of The School of Satchel as Multiply Pinay Pride, and Ms. Adeline Co, Ms. Jasmin Hong and Ms. Jocelyn Tuazon of Little Emily Shop as Multiply Rookie of the Year.

During the program, Go Negosyo took the opportunity to thank the organization’s partners in its pursuit of promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship. These institutions include GMA Network, Philippine Star, PLDT SME Nation, Smart Communications, MERALCO, RFM Corporation, BPI Family Bank, Avon Cosmetics, LBC Express, Multiply.com, Orchard Property Marketing Corporation, Isuzu Philippines, and Valueline.

Successful personalities and womenpreneurs came to share their stories during the talks conducted throughout the day. In the morning program, GMA news anchor and Kapuso Foundation’s Executive Vice President and COO Mel Tiangco inspired people by sharing her life on being a woman for others. The afternoon talk sessions featured former Isabela governor and the 2008 Ramon Magsaysay awardee for Government Service Grace Padaca who talked about challenges and triumphs in government; Belo Medical Group’s Medical Director Dr. Vicky Belo on beauty, health, and wellness; Multiple Intelligence International School’s founding directress Mary Joy Canon-Abaquin on nurturing child strengths; former OFW and Mynd Consulting’s founder Myrna Padilla on breaking barriers and achieving success; and the former regional president of Starbucks Asia Maria Mercedes Corrales on becoming the best that one can be.

In between the talks are two fora featuring more women personalities. The morning forum, which talked about a woman’s road map to success, pooled successful women such as Villar Foundation’s Congresswoman Cynthia Villar, GKonomics’ Pinky Po, Asia America Initiative’s Honey Sumndad-Usman, women STARpreneurs Antuza Refalda, Marife Zamora, Olive Aw, and Elma Arboleras, and woman Social Entrepreneur Desiree Duran. Meanwhile, the celebrities who sat down together in the afternoon forum on celebrities with business excellence are Regine Tolentino, Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan, Vina Morales, Angeli Pangilinan, Fanny Serrano, and Miriam Quiambao.

Participants also got a chance to be mentored by the Go Negosyo Angelpreneurs, as well as members of the Women’s Business Council of the Philippines and the Association of Image Consultants International (AICI) Philippines. On top of that, two separate seminars were held simultaneously with the main program, which featured top women speakers talking about how to start and run a business, as well as women issues such as health and wellness, beauty, and women’s rights. Among the speakers are Delby Bragais of AICI, V Cargo’s Paulo Tibig, woman Enabler awardee Erlinda Bartolome, fashion blogger Tricia Gosingtian, Mansmith & Fielders, Inc’s Chiqui Escareal-Go, Zen Zest’s Michelle Asence, The Budoir Dolls, Ineng’s barbeque Michelle Santiago, Dr. Mitch Dado of Capitol Medical Center, Jovita Nadal of National Nutrition Council, Reema Chanco of Power Plate Philippines, Public Attorney’s Office, Krav Maga Philippines, and Danah and Stacey Gutierrez of The Plump Pinay.

More than 200 aspiring and existing entrepreneurs took the opportunity to display the latest business models and ideas that can be adapted by the participants who would like to start their own negosyo. A Wish Ko Lang segment during the lunch break gave one lucky woman an opportunity to start her own business with a Swift Hotdog negosyo cart and a Kettle Korn dealership package. Furthermore, a mini variety show at the end of the program showcased performances from famous Kapuso stars, who wowed the crowd with their amazing talents. Among those who appeared are Chynna Ortaleza, Mikey Bustos, Steven Silva, Lirah Bermudez, and Sarah Lahbati. Kyla, Lovely Embuscado, Kyla, and Jonalyn Viray also rendered their talent during the program. RJ Ledesma and Ali Sotto were hosts and forum moderators in the morning program; while Maey and Betong hosted the afternoon segments, with Luanne Dy and Go Negosyo angelpreneur Mylene Abiva as afternoon forum moderators.

This is the first major summit of Go Negosyo for 2012. For seven years, Go Negosyo has been at the forefront of promoting the entrepreneurial mindset. It has been four years since the first Women Summit, yet it still continues to uplift spirits and inspire Filipinos!

Babae, Kapuso Ka ng Bayan: An Essay Writing Tilt

The Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship, a non-governmental organization that pushes for the advocacy Go Negosyo, launches an essay writing competition in time with the holding of the fourth Women Entrepreneurship Summit and Expo 2012. The event aims to recognize the contributions of the Filipina in the Philippine society and empower them further by teaching them necessary concepts and ideas to maximize their potentials.

The essay writing contest, with the theme Babae Kapuso Ka ng Bayan, promotes and encourages conscious awareness of the contributions of kababaihan in the different levels of the society, in the different social strata, and all fields imaginable.

Mechanics:

A. Eligibility
This contest is open to all individuals, regardless of age and gender.

B. Medium
The medium may be in Filipino or English, depending on the preference of the entrants.

C. Theme, Content & Format
1. The competition will adopt the summit’s theme: Babae: Kapuso Ka ng Bayan.
2. The essay must be original, unpublished either in print or online, and shall be at a maximum of 1,000 words.
3. Entries must be in Word format and must be sent as an attachment, together with the entry form to feedback@gonegosyo.net, with the subject WES 2012 Essay.

Font Style: Tahoma

D. Submission
1. Only one entry per person will be accepted.
2. Entries will be accepted January 6 to February 20, 2012.

E. Judging: Criteria & Panel
1. Entries will be selected according to the following criteria:

a. General content and Relevance to the theme – 50%
b. Style and grammar – 20%
c. Appeal to intellect and emotion – 30%

2. Judges will be from the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship.

F. Winners & Prizes
1. The Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship shall recognize three winning entrants based on the set criteria. The organizers have the prerogative to award less than or more than three winners based on the quality of entries.

a. Go Negosyo books – one set
b. Publish winning article in the official PCE Website, PCE e-Newsletter and Facebook account.
c. Certificate of Recognition
d. VIP seat in the Women Summit

G. Others
The winning entries will be announced during the Women Entrepreneurship Summit on March 2, 2012, at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. Prior to the event, Go Negosyo shall inform the winners to ensure their presence at the summit.
