(CEBU CITY, Cebu) - Due to the overwhelming success of its Go Negosyo Caravan last year, the Go Negosyo Team is once again pulling all stops and heading back to the Queen City of the South to share the good news for the second time around.
Under the campaign “Go Negosyo, Sagot sa Kahirapan”, the Go Negosyo sa Cebu Caravan Season 2 will be on June 20, 2008 at the Cebu International Convention Center, starting at 9:30am. This special event is being made possible through the efforts of the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship- Go Negosyo, and their strong partnership with the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as one of the highlights of the Cebu Business Month celebrations.
The Go Negosyo Team and the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry once again collaborated to give honor and recognition to ten inspiring Cebuano micro-entrepreneurs from the area who, in their own ways, have contributed positively to their community and inspired others with their negosyo stories. These micro entrepreneurs rose from the challenges of life and served as role models in their respective areas of business.
“This is what Go Negosyo is all about – telling everyone the good news, of finding redemption from poverty through entrepreneurship. In doing so, we hope to have an impact on the mindset of people and encourage them to be successful entrepreneurs. I believe that only after we inspire this nation and move the people to becoming entrepreneurs armed with the proper values and motivation we can truly make our way out of poverty,” said Joey Concepcion who is the founding trustee of the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship and the driving force behind the Go Negosyo Team.
“Entrepreneurship is not a stop-gap solution to poverty. It could be a long haul but it is our best shot,” Concepcion added.
The Go Negosyo Caravan consists of negosyo consultations and forums, expos and exhibitions that feature successful entrepreneurs, including those from the host cities, sharing their business learnings and experiences. The sessions in the afternoon has been enhanced by including relevant lectures on the basics of entrepreneurship, having the right mindset, sessions on how to start a Negosyo, sessions on Marketing, product development and training and financial literacy that are useful tools and concepts for all micro, small and medium entrepreneurs.
The Caravan is aimed at creating a nationwide entrepreneurial revolution by promoting an optimistic and entrepreneurial mindset among Filipinos. It brings together like-minded partners and committed entrepreneur mentors with the hope of creating a groundswell of support for everyone who wants to start a business. The Caravan goes to different cities from all over the country while highlighting local business opportunities and recognizing local inspiring entrepreneurs.
“This year’s Go Negosyo Caravan promises to be more informative, dynamic and inspiring as they have incorporated more learning sessions in their program,” said Jay Aldeguer, President of Islands Souvenir and Go Negosyo sa Cebu Co-Chair.
Last year, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Go Negosyo Team gave the Most Inspiring Cebuano Entrepreneur award to the following; Norberto Quisumbing (Norkis Trading), Roberto Aboitiz (Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc.), Augusto Go (University of Cebu), Jack Gaisano (Metro Gaisano Group of Companies), Justin Uy (Profood Int’l Corp.), Bernie Liu (Penshoppe), Kenneth Cobonpue (Interior Crafts of the Islands Inc.), Julie Gandionco (Julie’s Franchise Corporation), Wilson Ng (Ng Khai Development Corp.), Steve Benitez (Coffee Centrale), William Christopher Liu, Jr. (Primary Structures Corporation), and Michael Lhuillier (MLhuillier Group of Companies).
Go Negosyo Caravan is open to the public, free admission and is part of a continuing series of well-received events conducted by the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship including Entrepreneurship Summit, Micro Negosyo, Teen Negosyo, Technonegosyo, Agrinegosyo, OFW and Tourism Negosyo, to name a few.
PCE-Go Negosyo is also credited for last year’s monumental launching of Joey Concepcion’s Go Negosyo book of Inspiring Entrepreneurial Stories which was recognized as the Number One Best-seller in National Bookstore. This success was followed by another best-selling line, Joey Concepcion’s Go Negosyo book of Inspiring Entrepreneurial Stories Celebrity Edition which has climbed the ranks of National Bookstore’s Top Five Bestsellers, after its launch last March 2, 2008.
Go Negosyo sa Cebu Caravan is presented by the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship in partnership with Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Cebu Business Month Entrepreneurship Committee.
