I Am Changemaker Finals

July 23rd, 2010

Judgment day is approaching.

After almost five months of searching, and one challenging month of careful deliberations, the British Council has shortlisted all the proposals it received for the I Am Changemaker social enterprise business plan competition. Then on July 30, from a selection of 18 finalists, there will be at least three team winners of P100,000 seed money to implement their great social enterprise venture.

The eighteen (18) finalists will undergo a 3-day training session on social enterprise development. On July 30, after getting polishing their presentations during the training, the finalists will present their business plans to a panel of esteemed judges at the Ricardo and Dr. Rosita Leong Hall of the Ateneo de Manila University.

At the end of the day, 1 team each from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and the National Capital Region will get a P100,000 grant to implement their ideas. Another P100,000 prize will be given to the special Starbucks prize for finalist proposals that best fits the Starbucks shared planet criteria.

I am a Changemaker

I am a Changemaker

I Am Changemaker was launched by the British Council last January, in partnership with Starbucks, the Social Enterprise Development Partnerships, Inc. (SEDP), and the Ateneo de Manila University. This groundbreaking competition was organized with the aim of finding young Filipino entrepreneurs who can make an impact in their communities by spotting social problems and issues as well as finding innovative ways to address them.

Go Negosyo realizes the significance of introducing the concept of social entrepreneurship, and developing more social entrepreneurs in the country, for they are entrepreneurs who don’t leave societal issues to the government or business sector. Instead, they step up and take the initiative to find what is not working, and solve the problem by challenging the system, spreading the solution, and persuading entire societies to take new leaps.

Do join British Council, Starbucks, SEDP, and Go Negosyo, as we witness the final presentations of this new breed of entrepreneurs.
