Tuesday, July 23rd, 2013

Last July 16, we celebrated the launching of SME Roving Academy for Region III and Go Negosyo Seminar in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry. This program is a continuous learning program for the development of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to become competitive in the domestic and international markets. The goal of this program is to integrate the business development services for SMEs at national and local levels, establish the Provincial, Regional and National Entrepreneurship Development Networks and manage an inclusive promotion program. SME Roving Academy program has seven stages: Start-Up & Capability Building Stage, Market Awareness Stage, Market Readiness Stage, Export Readiness Stage, Export Market Entry Stage, Export Sustainability Stage and Export Expansion Stage.

Region III covers the following provincial offices of DTI Zambales, Tarlac, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Bataan and Aurora.  The participants of the event traveled all the way to San Fernando, Pampanga just to witness the launching of this program and of course, to learn from the Go Negosyo seminar. Aside from the representatives per provincial office, DTI also invited MSMEs to attend the program in helping them improve and develop their negosyos. Manila Flavor

Thursday, July 4th, 2013

Last week, I shared the real secret of successful marriages of many entrepreneurs and how their spouses have played a significant role in their lives. And just in time with the topic, my wife and I recently celebrated our 30th anniversary with a visit to Alaska through a cruise taking off from Vancouver where my sister-in-law and her family live. Cruise liners are all over Alaska and it is a very lucrative market. During one of the stopovers in Juneau, I was amazed to see two Filipina sisters who have a store in a prime location where all the cruise ships dock and passengers have to pass. Let me share with you their story which is an example of many success stories of our OFWs. Through their Manila Bay Cafe, the sisters Geny Evangelista Del Rosario and Maryann Evangelista bring the taste of Filipino food in an unusual place in Juneau, Alaska.
