Life is never meant to be easy but with perseverance, one can be successful.

Bernadette Jennifer Salcedo had a hard time finding a stable job but the need to provide for her family is her constant motivation. For almost a decade, she worked for a BPO company before she put up her catering services.

Catering business is always in demand throughout the year. Either for a birthday party, a wedding or anniversary celebration, catering is always necessary. It is not just about preparing a generic menu and serving it to guests, it is about having a unique concept for each celebration that you are catering to. This is what Salcedo did for each of her clients.

Salcedo founded the FunCake Delights and Catering Services in 2010. She collaborates with her customers to provide what they really want.  She discovered that strengthening relationships is the key to growing in the catering business. Aside from her catering services, she also manufactures marmalades and other baked products.

In 2016, she was supposed to complain for a business establishment but fate led her to register to Kapatid Mentor Me Program of Go Negosyo and the Department of Trade and Industry. During the course of the program, Salcedo appreciates the guidance and support of the mentors. The program has helped her business more than she expected. She realized that there are things that must be improved in managing her business. However, she learned from mentor Grace Canave and Atty. Niño Carlo Bautista that you must also be creative in the food business and that customer service is of prime importance. Additionally, she also noted the importance of manpower and skills play a vital part in the catering industry.

After KMME program, Salcedo was able to acquire additional knowledge and training. Currently, she is a certified consultant for some businesses in Tuba, Benguet and is now helping those aspiring MSMEs to be successful also.
