Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship and Vice Chairman of Edsa People Power Commission Joey Concepcion joined the commemoration of the 33rd Edsa People Power Revolution on 25 Feburary 2019 that was hosted by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.

In his speech, he shared how the military revolution has slowly transformed into an economic revolution. “Today, we see a different type of revolution. The transformation from the People Power Revolution that we saw in 1986 is moving forward and evolving into an economic revolution that is creating greater inclusivity for many Filipino people.”

He also cited the need to equip the younger generation with knowledge of the People Power Revolution – the events that led to it and its legacy. “The challenge at hand is to inculcate in younger generations the lessons that the People Power Revolution has provided, the passion for continually protecting our democracy and freedom, and the drive to work for a better Philippines. It is our duty to make them realize that democracy, in its real sense, is essential in bringing the country to greater heights.”

EPPC Vice Chairman Concepcion further highlighted the breakthrough in the peace process that was recently achieved with the establishment of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). This, he said, is crucial for lasting peace and real inclusive growth to be finally achieved in the entire country – all in keeping with the economic revolution that has already begun.
