Christmas season is the perfect time for all our kababayans who are Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) to come home and be with their families. As an early Christmas treat, Go Negosyo together with the Department of Trade and Industry led off the 13th roll out of Mentor Me On Wheels last December 3, 2018 held at the Music Hall, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City.
Attended by more than 400 mentees, the session was made even more special by the participation of hundreds of OFWs and seafarers who wants to start or develop their business models. Sen. Cynthia Villar, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez, and Amb. Carlos Salinas also joined the mentoring session.
Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship and Go Negosyo Founder Joey Concepcion emphasized how MMOW can change the life of many by saying, “The fulfillment we are getting by helping our MSME is truly rewarding. This, I think is the best christmas gift we can give to our OFW and seafarers for the sacrifices that they are doing. Also, many of our entrep-mentors took time despite their busy schedules to impart ideas and knowledge to our mentees.”
Sen. Cynthia Villar, who was also the guest of honor shared her mindset in business and mentored two lucky mentees in the one-on-one session. During her talk, Villar reiterated that, “Hanap-buhay at negosyo, ‘yan ang kailangan ng ating mga kababayan upang makaahon sa kahirapan at upang maging tuluy-tuloy ang pagsulong ng ating bansa. ‘Wag mamaliitin ang maliit na negosyo. Malaki ang aking tiwala na ang mga small and micro industry and magdadala ng progreso sa ating bansa.”
Since the 13th roll out is tailored to cater our OFWs and Seafarers, Ambassador Carlos Salinas of the International Maritime Organization graced the event and inspired not just the mentees but also shares valuable knowledge to the esteemed mentors.
During the mentoring session, Felipe Preciado, owner of an electrical trading and services business became a mentee of Alice Eduardo of Sta. Elena Construction and Development Corporation. After the mentoring session, Eduardo invited him to her office to meet her electrical engineers and guide him with regard to his queries and concerns in the supply management.
