True to its commitment of helping transform the Philippines into an entrepreneurial nation, the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship, Inc. also known as Go Negosyo launched the Go Negosyo Building Enterprising Students for Tomorrow (BEST) Programme last November 17 at the Manila Polo Club, Makati City as one of the highlights of the Global Entrepreneurship Week 2014 Philippine Celebration.
Go Negosyo is taking youth mentorship to the next level through the Go Negosyo BEST. It is a mentoring program that aims to be an avenue for academically outstanding college junior and senior students (who may not necessarily be business majors or business-inclined) to expose them to thought leaders and industry practitioners through a one-year program, with quarterly activities that may include but may not be limited to meet-and-greet with heads of corporations, company tours and immersions and teambuilding and personal enrichment sessions.
The launch conference was attended by around 400 students coming from 50 schools all over the region. The student delegates were selected based on their academic standing and leadership involvements.
Highlights of the seven-hour programme included lightning talks and power forums:
Voices, the official chorale group of the Assumption College- San Lorenzo rendered their soulful version of You Raised Me Up and performed the National Anthem.
It was then followed by the welcome message from the Founding Trustee of Go Negosyo Mr Joey Concepcion.
After the warm welcome from the founder of Go Negosyo himself, The United Kingdom Ambassador to the Philippines, His Excellency Mr. Asif Ahmad delivered his speech for the BEST delegates.
Mr. Anthony Pangilinan from the Master’s Lighthouse Foundation, also an institutional partner furthered what Go Negosyo BEST is all about.
After the preliminaries, the award-winning Cebuano furniture designer and manufacture, Mr. Kenneth Cobonpue talked about his journey how he started and how his masterpieces became globally known. He was then followed by the Season 1 Winner of The Apprentice Asia, Mr. Jonathan Yabut who talked about the value of grit to be successful.
Three chief executive officers were invited to be part of the Keynote Forum. Mr. Aurelio Montinola, former CEO of the Bank of the Philippine Islands, Ms. Sandy Prieto- Romualdez, CEO of Philippine Daily Inquirer and Mr. Johnlu Koa, CEO of The French Baker.
The Keynote Forum was followed by the lightning talk of prominent fashion designer Mr. Rajo Laurel of the House of Laurel.
For The Enterprising and Entrepreneurial Young Filipinos Forum, seven inspiring young individuals from different fields were invited: Mary Joy Abaquin of Multiple International Intelligence School, Joseph Calata of Calata Corporation, RJ David of Olx Philippines, Clang Garcia of Jeepney Tours and Ronald Pineda of Folded and Hung. They were also joined by Luis Gabriel Moreno, the first-ever Filipino Gold Medalist in any of the Olympics and award-winning filmmaker, Mikhail Red.
An inspirational talk was delivered by the hilarious and moving Bro. Michael Angelo Lobrin right before Mr. Ramon Lopez, Executive Director Go Negosyo discussed the framework of the Go Negosyo BEST Programme- TEACH (Talk, Expose, Activate, Coach and Honor).
